The block 3

A magazine

This magazine lodges part of the metal casings. In 1939-1940, each of the casings held fifty shells for 7.5 cm shortened guns. On being instructed to supply the artillery turret with shells, the attendants used to push the casings, hoisted halfway up by means of a pulley device, along the overhead single rail to the elevator, where they were raised onto the in-between level.

There were thousands of shells in the three magazines, located within this cluster of Combat Blocks.
