The morgue
Some coffins made of zinc were stored in this space. They were meant for such soldiers as were killed in the battle and could not be buried outside the Fort, either because the enemy was nearby or the fight too fierce.
Nevertheless, as it was considered a pity to waste so precious a space a field post office was set up in there.
